You’re wedding day, one of the best days of your life. They go by SO fast, really just a blur of a day that just flies by.
Tip # 1: Plan WHERE you are going to be getting ready.
My wedding day I was so thankful that I had a space to get ready in that was pretty and full of natural light. When you are searching for your vendors, consider where you are going to get ready. Are you getting ready in the basement of your church, the bridal suit at your venue or are you reserving a bridal suite or suite at a hotel?
This is going to affect your day, and it’s going to affect your photographs! With the style of wedding photography morphing into a more photojournalistic approach, your photographer is going to capture the environment of your wedding day. Think about WHERE you are going to be getting ready.
Having that space lined up is a huge stress relief! I was grateful to have the space I did when I got ready for my wedding day.
Tip # 2: Put together an overnight bag for the wedding day.
On my wedding day, girl, I was using that overnight bag every HOUR.
Between needing safety pins, deodorant, tampons (Yes, FML), socks, a change of shoes and baby wipes, I literally used that bag ALL night long. It was a godsend.
This is what I had in my “Wedding Day Bag”
- Sewing Kit
- Safety Pins
- Bobby Pins
- Spray Deodorant
- Special Wedding Day Perfume
- Excedrin
- Snacks
- Mints
- Tampons
- CHECK BOOK
- I totally forgot my check book, and we needed it…. Don’t forget your check book 🙂
Tip #3: It’s your day. Enjoy it.
Once your wedding day begins, it is your day. My best advice, is to enjoy every minute. Slow down and take in the moments with your guests. Take in the room while your closest friends and family visit over their meals, and cheer you on as you take that step forward in your life. My wedding day was one of the best nights of my life. Not because of the dress, my makeup or the food. It wasn’t because we danced to our favorite song or bought the fancy boots. It was the best day of my life because my father was there, my closest friends were there to support and cheer us on, and more importantly… the love of my life was there.
Slow down.
Smoke the cigar. Walk in the grass. Kiss the boy. Stop stressing about all these tiny little things that DON’T matter, and enjoy the day as it happens and have a great night.
